Miguel Ángel
Dynamic design for a spirited flamenco dancer
The Challenge
Miguel Ángel is a flamenco dancer and artist based in Germany. As a performing artist and teacher, Miguel has traveled and performed around the world. He also runs “Flamencostudio Miguel Ángel,” a dance studio in Schorndorf. Testimonials about him are extraordinary: an impressive dancer, he’s known to be a man who doesn’t run out of breath, who drives his musicians to high performance until the last second.
We were commissioned to design the identity for his company as well as the website, which is entirely in German. This meant we had to work with a foreign language. It was exciting and unnerving at the same time, and we sought translation help as needed. The objective of Miguel’s website is to offer information about the online and in-studio classes as well as a platform for enrolling in these classes. It has been one of our most interesting global projects till date!
How we did it
Starting with the logo, we created a handcrafted typeface that was graceful, fluid and bold. A subtle stylistic touch was added to the “A” in “Ángel,” mirroring the movement of a dancer’s hands while doing the flamenco. The website showcases Miguel’s accomplishments and offers details on the various types of dance courses.
Each individual course page was further detailed with descriptions about the dance form, the available class timings, and the fees. This way, potential students are able to quickly decide on enrolling themselves, by selecting their choice of learning level, date and time. Students can select multiple classes as long as timings don’t clash. The website is an ideal space to learn more about the dance form and take the next step towards actually learning it.
Since the client wanted complete access to the website backend, we developed a CMS-driven platform for easy updating of videos, photos and course information. With a dynamic website that acts as a major touchpoint, Miguel’s company is able to better engage with its audience.
